NACS: Showcasing LED Signage That Drives Sales Outside and Inside the C-Store
Watchfire Signs will showcase its ability to grab the attention of motorists with gas price signs, entice them into the c-store with LED message centers and convert sales with creative in-store digital screens, at the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) Show, October 11-14, 2015 in Las Vegas. The LED sign manufacturer will display its full range of convenience store and petroleum retail lighting solutions, along with cloud-based digital displays from subsidiary Aerva, in booth 7201.
Watchfire also announced it has become an approved signage vendor for Phillips 66, 76 and Conoco. With Corporate Programs in place with Phillips 66 and other companies like it, Watchfire products can be found in c-stores in 48 states across the country.
Watchfire will showcase the following products at NACS booth 7201:
- Price Watcher gallon and liter gas price signs. Price Watchers’ energy efficiency – the display uses as much electricity as a single light bulb – provides significant cost savings for gas stations and convenience stores. The product is easy to update in any weather, even in high-traffic or remote locations, and can integrate with a gas station’s point-of-sale (POS) system to automatically sync with prices at the pump. Price Watcher gas price signs help station and store owners reach out to passing traffic and increase their customer base; the LED price displays are available in a variety of colors and sizes to clearly communicate petroleum offerings to drivers up to a quarter mile away. They feature streamlined design, energy-efficient cooling and ruggedly weatherized encapsulation to enhance field reliability.
- 10mm LED sign, the company’s highest resolution display. The 10mm LED sign provides exceptional resolution showcasing messages, animation, art and video in vivid, true-to-life fashion. With more LEDs per square foot than any other sign in the Watchfire line up, the 10mm product is ideal for close-viewing range and smaller applications, including situations when square footage limitations on signage may apply. Watchfire 10mm signs contain fully encapsulated modules that lengthen the expected product life and increase operational up-time. Full silicone encapsulation protects board-mounted electronic components from the effects of moisture, air-borne salts and heat. In addition, the signs include an active front ventilation system to keep components cool and extend product life.
- Indoor digital content screen powered by Aerva software. Aerva’s cloud-based digital engagement platform provides seamless integration of dynamic and real-time content as well as the capabilities for managing large networks through a browser-based interface. The digital display cooler showcases a powerful platform that provides an improved customer experience that increases brand-affinity and generates sales lift in retail settings. Aerva’s software allows for the display of branded videos, graphics and animations that can be customized for market-specific promotions and social media interactions.

After 10 years, Union County Co-op’s Watchfire sign has required minimal mechanical maintenance. At one location in Indiana, the company only replaced one LED module in 10 years, despite hailstorms and other harsh conditions, according to Gary Barrett, retail development manager of CountryMark, an American-owned oil exploration, production, refining and marketing company.
Unlike CountryMark’s previous gas price signage, Watchfire’s Price Watcher signs don’t plague the co-op with corrosion problems and LED burnout. “When an LED burns out, customers can’t read the correct price of gas, so they drive to the competitor,” said Barrett. Plus the professional appearance of each location sends a message about the quality of CountryMark’s products and the customer experience they promote.
Watchfire’s LED message centers also provide vital communications to potential customers and the community. Roughly one-third of CountryMark's 100 locations are unattended, and the LED sign’s programmable content allows them to convey the message that all locations are not for co-op members only, but also serve the general public. Message centers also are used to broadcast community messages, such as upcoming blood drives, which shows the co-op is a local business invested in the community.
“Our Watchfire signs are worth the investment that we made in them,” added Barrett.
