Vintage Media Looks to the Future with Digital Outdoor Boards

Vintage Media - digital billboard

Vintage Media, an outdoor advertising company in central Alabama, has installed two Watchfire Digital Outdoor billboards in the cities of Millbrook and Wetumpka.

“Digital billboards are wonderful because they are like having six separate billboards in one without having to find multiple locations,” said owner, Tim Allen. These are Vintage Media’s first digital billboards and Allen already has plans to install more.

Because digital billboards allow multiple advertisements to rotate on the same board, and because the messages can be changed quickly, they work well for advertisers with time-sensitive messages or multiple product lines. Digital billboards are appealing to outdoor advertisers since they can be updated simply and remotely in minutes using software and a high-speed Internet connection.

Current advertisers on Vintage Media’s digital billboards include a hospital, restaurants, gyms, mortgage companies, homebuilders, banks and a baseball team. In addition, Vintage Media provides free community service ad space to the Millbrook Police Department and local churches.

Allen selected Watchfire Digital Outdoor after visiting the Watchfire manufacturing facility and meeting the employees. “The workers at the manufacturing facility stopped to explain what they were doing. It was an impressive operation and sold me immediately,” said Allen.

The company then installed a 19mm 10’ x 30’ digital billboard on the corner of Highway 14 and Oak Tree Road in Millbrook, and a 25mm 10’ x 36’ digital billboard on the corner of US highway 231 and Redland Road in Wetumpka. Nearly 40,000 cars pass the Millbrook board daily and over 50,000 cars pass the Wetumpka board every day.

Watchfire Digital Outdoor produces the industry’s only 19mm pixel pitch billboard-which packs 768 LEDs into every square foot-and is capable of producing 281 trillion colors, the most in the industry. It is the only manufacturer that fully encapsulates the LED module in a thick bed of silicone gel, which enables the LED boards to operate in extreme weather conditions: over 180 days completely submerged in water, 60 days in a salt-spray chamber, and temperatures ranging from -40° F to 120° F. In areas where heat and humidity are both high, the silicone gel encapsulation protects the boards from humidity and moisture, greatly improving projected reliability. All Watchfire boards feature unique extruded aluminum cabinetry that complies with 2006 IBC codes and a streamlined electronics design that improves operation and simplifies maintenance. Watchfire’s warranty, lead-times, customer support, and no-fee software are considered to be the best in the industry.
