Vital Signs Installs Oklahoma City’s First Digital Billboard

Watchfire Digital Outdoor, the digital billboard division of Time-O-Matic Inc., announced that Vital Signs of Oklahoma City has installed a 19mm 14’ x 48’ digital outdoor billboard manufactured by Watchfire Digital Outdoor. The new digital billboard replaces a static vinyl billboard and is the first digital billboard in Oklahoma City, one of the nation’s top 50 billboard markets.

The digital billboard will be located on Highway 74 (Lake Hefner Parkway) near its intersection with Northwest Expressway.

Advertisers are interested in digital billboards because they can be updated remotely in minutes using software and a high-speed Internet connection, allowing advertisers to run specific messages coinciding with the time of day or special events, according to Justin Booher, president of Vital Signs. Booher anticipates advertisers will quickly leverage the new digital billboard to span a variety of industries including financial services, healthcare, automotive and real estate.

Vital Signs selected the billboard from Watchfire Digital Outdoor because of the company’s outstanding customer service. “Watchfire really cares about our business,” said Booher, noting that a Watchfire executive spent a couple days in April meeting with local advertising agencies and advertisers to educate them about the new medium and discussing the opportunities available for advertisers with digital billboards.

Watchfire Digital Outdoor produces the industry’s only 19mm pixel pitch billboard, which features 10 percent more pixels per square foot than others in the industry. Watchfire Digital Outdoor boards produce 281 trillion colors, a palette 64 times deeper than others in the industry. All Watchfire billboards feature 140-degree viewing angle LEDs. In addition, Watchfire provides a web cam for real-time monitoring of billboards, automatic diagnostic monitoring via email and log files for proof of performance.

Watchfire digital billboards have industry-leading uptime. A recent audit of 334 Watchfire digital signs revealed that the signs had an average uptime of more than 99.9 percent. The product’s consistent performance record is largely attributable to the unique silicone gel that encapsulates every Watchfire billboard module and protects against extreme weather conditions, even allowing Watchfire’s boards to operate normally while completely submerged in water.
