Action Outdoor is Bullish on Watchfire Digital Billboards with Purchase of Seven LED Billboards

Action Outdoor Advertising of Atlanta has installed seven new 14’ x 48’ digital billboards manufactured by Watchfire Digital Outdoor in Atlanta and surrounding suburbs. Action Outdoor is the first to deploy an additional LED imprint sign on the skirt of the new digital billboards. These 2’ x 10’ LED imprint signs alternate between the Action Outdoor logo and phone number so potential advertisers can easily identify the outdoor company and call the sales office to inquire about advertising on the sign.

According to Jack Hartrampf, principle of Action Outdoor Advertising, no other outdoor advertising company has taken this approach to self-promotion. “The LED imprint sign on the skirt is prompting more phone calls to our office from potential advertisers who drive past our sign and see our company name and number immediately,” said Hartrampf.

Among Action Outdoor’s five new installations, one features a double-sided LED billboard on I-285 at the I-85 Interchange, a road configuration commonly known as Spaghetti Junction, where more than 265,000 vehicles pass daily. The back-to-back billboard features Watchfire’s true-16mm digital billboard on one side and a true-19mm billboard on the other side. Action Outdoor also installed three additional true-19mm, 14’ by 48’ digital billboards elsewhere in the greater Atlanta area.

Digital billboards are appealing to outdoor advertisers because they can be updated simply and remotely in minutes, using software and a high-speed Internet connection. Digital billboards also allow multiple advertisements on the same billboard, and because messages can be changed quickly, they work well for advertisers with time-sensitive messages or multiple product lines.

Advertisers include a local boat dealer, cosmetics company, insurance company, real estate agency, dentist and tractor and heavy equipment company. Action Outdoor also posts public service announcements free of charge for community organizations. These seven new digital displays are a wonderful addition to Action Outdoor’s existing 114 advertising faces in the Atlanta market, which include the Watchfire LED locations and regular static bulletin displays.

“We firmly believe that Watchfire Digital Outdoor billboards are what we need to be competitive in the marketplace and offer the best advertising for our customers,” said Hartrampf. “We studied other digital billboard manufacturers and we were very pleased with what we saw from Watchfire. We like how the units are engineered and built, and are particularly impressed with Watchfire’s Ignite™ software, which we found to be the easiest and most user-friendly compared to the others.”

Watchfire Digital Outdoor produces the industry’s only true-16mm and true-19mm pixel pitch billboards-which pack 1,020 and 768 LEDs respectively into every sq. ft. Each is capable of producing 281 trillion colors, the most in the industry. Watchfire is the only manufacturer that fully encapsulates the LED module in a thick bed of silicone gel, which enables the LED boards to operate in extreme weather conditions: 180+ days completely submerged in water, 60 days in a salt-spray chamber, and temperatures ranging from -40° F to 120° F. In areas where heat and humidity are both high, the silicone gel encapsulation protects the boards from humidity and moisture, greatly improving projected reliability. All Watchfire boards feature unique extruded aluminum cabinetry that comply with IBC 2006 codes and a streamlined electronics design that improves operation and simplifies maintenance. Watchfire’s warranty, lead-times, customer support, and no-fee software are considered to be the best in the industry.
