Watchfire Scholarship Opens Application Period for Fired Up Scholarship 2023

Watchfire, a leading manufacturer of video scoreboards, announced that the 2023 application period for the Fired Up Scholarship is open now until April 14, 2023.

Awarded annually, this scholarship celebrates the imaginative content that students create for use on a Watchfire sports display during a live event. The scholarship will provide $500 in financial assistance to a graduating high school senior who developed engaging content for use on a Watchfire video scoreboard or display.

“It is amazing when students grow from being content consumers to being content creators. Producing graphics and videos for a scoreboard leads to critical thinking, creative empowerment, and school engagement,” said Mary Ellen Fricke, sports marketing at Watchfire.

Fricke adds, “Whether it’s applying professional editing software skills taught in the classroom or using apps on their phones, today’s students are creating digital content that fire up fans and spark school pride.” Scholarship submissions may include videos, animations, static graphics, advertisements, or any other content that creates fan engagement. Eligible content must be created by the applicant and displayed on an indoor or outdoor Watchfire sports display between April 1, 2022 and April 1, 2023.

To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must attend a high school that owns or uses a Watchfire sports display, be accepted by or enrolled in an accredited post-secondary educational institution, and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

The deadline to apply is April 14, 2023, and the winner will be announced in May. Additional information and selection criteria can be found at watchfiresigns.com/firedup.
