Bullock’s Deli, Denton, MD

Bullock's Deli has been a beloved community establishment in Denton, MD, since 1976. Situated just a quarter-mile off Maryland 404, Bullock's Deli offers an extensive menu for eat-in or take-out, as well as Maryland Lottery services, hunting and fishing licenses, boat ramp stickers, Sunoco gas, and the area’s best hot fudge sundaes.

Recently, Bullock's Deli embarked on an upgrade of its iconic signage and digital message center. The refurbishment project involved refreshing the sign cabinet and retrofitting the digital message center with a higher-resolution display from Watchfire.

The new sign delivers sharp and vibrant images and serves as a powerful marketing tool, grabbing the interest of locals and travelers passing through Denton. Bullock's uses its upgraded sign to advertise daily specials, promote services, highlight items inside the store, and inform the community about upcoming events.

According to Michele Bullock, one of the owners, the deli experiences significant foot traffic and increased business when advertising specials or seasonal events. Recently, the deli advertised strawberry season, resulting in a flood of customers eager to enjoy the berries. Likewise, the deli observes a noticeable increase in lottery sales on days when they advertise high Mega Millions jackpots.

Adjacent businesses also benefit from the sign. Bullock’s owns the plaza where it is located and utilizes the sign to promote other businesses within the plaza. This collaborative approach benefits all businesses in the area, fostering a sense of unity and community support.

“Not only does our new sign look great on the property, but it we know that it works in getting the attention of potential customers,” said Bullock. During the upgrade when the sign was temporarily out of commission, numerous community members contacted the deli, curious about the sign's whereabouts. “They really missed it!” said Bullock.

Bullock's Deli collaborated with Phillips Signs on its original sign and the recent upgrade. A trusted partner based in Seaford, DE, Phillips Signs specified Watchfire for both signs.

“The retrofit with Watchfire went smoothly and was done quickly,” said Matt Phillips of Phillips Signs, citing Watchfire's exceptional service, readily available parts, and knowledgeable sales representatives as contributing factors to the two companies’ long, successful collaboration.
