Watchfire Launches Certification for Student Scoreboard Operators

Watchfire has launched a certification program to help high school students who operate video scoreboards and create compelling content using Watchfire's state-of-the-art Ignite Sports software.

Students use a self-paced online training platform with lessons, videos, and skill practice activities. Upon completion, students will also receive the Ignite Sports certification and a LinkedIn badge, providing career-focused credentials.

This certification not only equips students with valuable skills but also serves as an asset for teachers, who can seamlessly integrate it into their curriculum for video production, design, and classes using Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM), and Career and Technical Education (CTE) learning.

“We want to spark skills that students can take to any job, not just sports production,” said Jeremy Weeks, EdD, Watchfire Sports Specialist. "The Ignite Sports certification is a testament to Watchfire's commitment to education and empowering students with practical skills that extend beyond the classroom."

As part of Watchfire's Trailblazer program, the Ignite Sports certification complements the company's ongoing efforts to support education in the digital age. This program provides skills books, videos, and webinar learning for the schools that purchase a Watchfire video scoreboard or digital display. Watchfire also provides education-licensed gametime software for hands-on learning in school computer labs. These resources focused on the software with instructions for scoring a game, creating player profiles, and getting hype videos and crowd prompts on the big screen. Trailblazer students can also apply for an annual content creator scholarship.
